Challenges for women in neurolgoy

The aim of this session, introduced at the EAN congress in Berlin in 2015 for the first time, was to help identify and overcome the challenges that women may find during their academic and hospital career development in neurology. This meeting highlighted the need to ensure equal opportunities for women neurologists in academic and hospital appointments and promotions.

It is known, that there is a disparity between the proportion of women enrolled as students in medical schools and the proportion of women who hold senior faculty positions may discourage women from pursuing academic careers in the future.

The second part of these sessions, which are held as networking lunch sessions at the annual EAN congresses, is dedicated to some interactive Q&A with the audience to share knowledge and possibilities among them as well.

In 2024 it was decided to rename the session into “Managing challenges for women in neurolgoy”
