Searching for early biomarkers for alpha synucleinopathies, a recent study by Drahms et al. revealed that cardiac/vascular dysfunction in prodromal α-synucleinopathy arises from peripheral rather than from central autonomic degeneration. Autonomic indices are precise functional markers of early synuclein-mediated neurodegeneration.
