Priority Topics 2025-2027

The EAN Guideline Production Group (GPG) has opened a Call for Guideline Topic Proposals at the end of 2024, in which various topic proposals were submitted by EAN Individual members, Scientific Panel members, Partner and National Societies.

These topic proposal submissions were evaluated by the GPG, Scientific Committee, and the EAN Board through a pre-explicit, transparent, independent and systematic prioritization process. In result, EAN has identified the top-ranking 20 as Priority Topics until 2027. Please find them listed below in alphabetical order.

  • Management of cerebral amyloid angiopathy in neurocognitive disorders
  • Diagnosis, management, and prognosis of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) in adults

  • Management of multiple sclerosis during pregnancy and breastfeeding (PregnaMSy)
  • Diagnosis of cerebral circulatory arrest by ultrasound

  • Palliative care for people with neurological disorders
  • Standardizing treatment of tremor in Europe for comprehensive and accessible care

Throughout 2025-2027, a limited number of the Top 20 guideline topics will be selected by the EAN Board by batch to receive dedicated funding and be developed as a priority guideline.

* The proposal to develop a Guideline on Amyloid (ATTRv) Neuropathy was received via the bottom-up approach and evaluated by the Board using the same established criteria as for the selection of the Priority Topics among the Top 30 ranked.

    In case your topic proposal is not among those selected, there are two options on how to proceed:

    1.  You may submit a proposal via the bottom-up process, i.e., send it via email to scientific(at)ean.org. Please note that only standard guideline support will be provided for proposals submitted (and accepted) in this method.

    2. Alternatively, you may await for the next Selection of Guideline Projects on Priority Topics, where your priority topic may be selected for dedicated funding.
