Nutrition in Neurology Task Force

The Nutrition in Neurology Task Force addresses a critical and underexplored dimension of neurological health by bridging the fields of nutrition, gut health, and clinical neurology. Growing evidence from neuroscience and nutritional science underscores the fundamental role of nutrition in maintaining brain health across the lifespan. Diet-related factors, together with sleep and physical activity, shape gut health and the gut–brain axis, influencing neuroinflammatory processes and mechanisms involved in neurodegeneration.

The central objective of the Task Force is to conduct a comprehensive literature review that synthesizes current scientific evidence on the role of nutrition in the prevention and supportive care of neurological diseases. By evaluating existing research, the Task Force aims to clarify the strength of current evidence, identify knowledge gaps, and support the integration of nutrition-informed approaches into neurological research and clinical practice.
