Grants and Awards

Bursaries

The 8th Congress of the EAN offers up to 240 bursaries consisting of free registration to the congress and up to four nights of hotel accommodation. Bursaries on the topic of Movement disorders are co-sponsored by MDS-ES.

Eligibility

Eligible are EAN Resident and Research Members from EAN member countries. For further information, please check our RRFS membership package here. 
Kindly note that membership application is sufficient at this stage and you can submit your bursary application before having received your membership certificate.

It is also possible for RRFS members from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Mauretania, Morocco, Palestine, Syria and Tunisia as well as from sub-Saharan countries belonging to the HINARI Group A list of countries as established by WHO to apply for bursaries.

Application

Please indicate your bursary application during abstract submission. Applications for bursaries will only be considered if submitted by the time of the abstract submission deadline. Please keep in mind that only one bursary per abstract will be awarded and the bursary will be awarded to the presenting author.

Selection

Bursary recipients will be selected on the basis of abstract evaluation by the Programme Committee.
Applicants who have been granted a bursary will be informed before elapse of the early registration fee deadline.

The prize is not transferable and will not be paid off in cash.

Investigator Award for 2022

Due to technical changes affecting the evaluation process, it will not be possible to give out the Investigator Award for 2022.

EAN Tournament Finals – Neurologists in training on-stage

On behalf of the Programme Committee, we are glad to announce that the annual Tournament for Neurologists in Training has been reformatted for the EAN Congress 2022 in Vienna!

Session format 

Programme Schedule:Sunday, 26 June 
Duration:up to 90 minutes
Chairs:4 chairs who are all tournament evaluators (2x Clinical, 2x Basic)
Total number of presenters:up to 12 speakers ( Clinical and Basic) 
Time per speaker:6 minutes (3-minute spotlight presentation + 3-minute Q&A)

Formerly split into two sessions, the clinical and basic tournaments will this year be hosted together in a merged session.
In 90 minutes, attendees will have the opportunity to hear up to 12 presentations of the best clinical and best basic abstracts submitted for the EAN Congress. 
The EAN Tournament session will also be broadcasted live on the EAN TV! 

Presentation

Different from the traditional EAN Tournaments for Neurologists in Training, the top speakers in the new EAN Tournament Finals share their studies without the security of a fancy presentation or a lectern – only a spotlight and a microphone at the center stage! The finalists are given strictly 6 minutes on the stage. Three minutes for to share their study and circa three minutes to answer questions from the session chairs or from the audience.

Jury

A panel of experts will score all presenters on the scientific interest of the presentation, relevance of reported data, methodology used, statistical analysis, quality of results, presentation skills, quality of presentaion, logical build-up of presentation and ability to adequately answer questions. Winners and runners-up will be announced at the end of the session.

Financial support

Candidates selected for the tournament have received a bursary consisting of free registration to the Congress, up to four nights hotel accommodation, and a travel grant. 

Prize

The winner of each group will receive a prize consisting of: Free registration at the 9th EAN Congress in Budapest 2023, up to four nights hotel accommodation as well as a travel grant and a certificate. The prize is not transferable and will not be paid off in cash.
Two runner-up prizes in each, the clinical and basic tournament will be awarded. They will consist of a certificate and a free registration to the 9th EAN Congress in Budapest 2023.

Eligible are EAN Resident and Research Members from EAN member countries. For further information, please check our EAN RRFS membership package here. The participant has to be first author of the abstract submitted. During abstract submission, candidates must state that they wish to participate in the tournament and select the group (clinical/basic). Applications will be accepted until the abstract submission deadline, i.e. 2 February 2022 23:59 CET.
 

The EAN Programme Committee selects up to 6  candidates for each tournament group based on the contents of the abstracts submitted. The clinical subjects must be received from authors who work in Europe and thus carry out their projects in Europe. For the basic science session, clinical relevance will be weighted.
Candidates have been selected and will contacted within the next days.
