On behalf of the Programme Committee, we are glad to announce the annual Tournament for Neurologists in Training for the EAN Congress 2027 in Gothenburg! Join us for the Tournament session and watch 10 of the most exemplary basic and clinical abstracts submitted for this year's EAN Congress, all conveniently accessible through the live broadcast on EAN TV!
Session format

Presentation
The top speakers in the new EAN Tournament Finals share their studies without a fancy presentation or a lectern – only a spotlight and a microphone at the centre stage! The finalists are given strictly 5 minutes on stage. Three minutes to share their study and approximately two minutes to answer questions from the session chairs or from the audience.
Jury
A panel of experts will score all presenters on the scientific interest of the presentation, relevance of reported data, methodology used, statistical analysis, quality of results, presentation skills, quality of presentation, logical build-up of presentation, and ability to adequately answer questions. Winners and runners-up will be announced at the end of the session.
Financial support
Candidates selected for the tournament will receive a bursary consisting of free registration to the Congress, up to four nights’ hotel accommodation, and a travel grant.
Prize
The winner of each group will receive a prize consisting of a free registration to the 14th EAN Congress in Rotterdam 2028, up to four nights’ hotel accommodation, a travel grant, as well as a certificate.
The runner-up of each group will receive a prize consisting of a free registration to the 14th EAN Congress in Rotterdam 2028 and a certificate.
Prizes are not transferable and will not be paid off in cash.
Information on application and selection
Eligible are EAN Resident and Research Members or students from EAN member countries. For further information, please check our EAN RRFS and student membership packages here. The participant must be first author of the abstract submitted. During the abstract submission, candidates must state that they wish to participate in the tournament and select a group, either the clinical or basic, but not both. Applications will be accepted until the abstract submission deadline, i.e. 14 January 2027 23:59 CET.
The EAN Programme Committee selects up to 6 candidates for each tournament group based on the contents of the abstracts submitted. The clinical subjects must be received from authors who work in Europe and thus carry out their projects in Europe. For the basic science session, clinical relevance will be weighted.
Candidates who have been selected will be contacted within days of abstract acceptance.
Late-Breaking Abstracts Presenters will not be considered as a candidate.
Please indicate your tournament application during abstract submission. Applicants must be first author of the abstract submitted and must be EAN Resident and Research Members or Student Members!
Application deadline: 14 January 2027 23:59 CET.
