Geneva: European Capital of Brain Health 2026

The Brain Health Mission is in Geneva!

In 2026, Geneva is the European Capital of Brain Health, placing brain health at the centre of public awareness, engagement, and action across the city.

This recognition, led by the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) through its Brain Health Mission and in collaboration with the Destination Geneva, coincides with the 12th Congress of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN Congress 2026), held from 27–30 June at Palexpo.

Geneva Puts Brain Health at the Centre

From 27 to 30 June 2026, Geneva will host the 12th Annual Congress of the European Academy of Neurology at Palexpo. On this occasion, and in recognition of its support for the various brain health activities taking place in the city throughout the year, Geneva has been named the European Capital of Brain Health 2026, highlighting its leading role in advancing brain health across Europe.

Bringing the community together at EAN Congress 2026

Organised with the support of the Geneva Convention Bureau and the Swiss Neurological Society (SNS), the congress will bring together healthcare professionals, researchers, patients, and the wider public.

"This congress provides an excellent opportunity to advance the field of neurology and increase the visibility of brain health as a key public health challenge."
Prof. Caroline PotPresident of the Swiss Neurological Society (SNS)

Beyond the congress: a lasting legacy

The designation goes far beyond the event itself. It reflects Geneva’s strong commitment to research, innovation, and awareness in neurological health.

A dedicated legacy programme has been developed to ensure long-term impact, including:

  • 2 Public conferences led by medical experts
  • A nationwide school initiative: Brain Health Schools Challenge (Projet Ecole Santé Cerveau)
  • A communication campaign promoting brain health to the public

Engaging the Public

Two key public events will take place during the congress week:

City-wide awareness campaign

From 20 June to 4 July 2026, Geneva will host a dedicated awareness campaign across the city.

The initiative will highlight essential pillars of brain health, including:
